On January 27th, the Wells Library sponsored a snowshoe hike at the Fenderson Wildlife Commons off Rt. 109 in Wells. Assisted and guided by members of the Wells Conservation Commission, there were a dozen hikers that enjoyed beautiful weather for a two hour hike. The WCC took the group out on the trails without snowshoes to a large beaver bog and dam. Witnessing the construction of this dam which is at least 75 yards long, 6’ high and retains 18+ acres of newly created wetlands is truly a marvel of nature. All those who saw this were inspired and would like to return this spring to see more activity. We would like to thank Kristi Bryant, Director of Adult activities, for coordinating this event and we look forward to working with the Wells Library to continue our efforts to introduce the public to these town-owned conservation lands.
